Betting Tax in Ghana: Withholding Tax Repealed in 2025
A common question is whether tax is still deducted from betting winnings in Ghana. The withholding tax that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) collected on winnings has been repealed.
The 10% Withholding Tax Has Been Repealed
Previously, licensed betting companies in Ghana deducted a withholding tax from winnings (10% (rate as previously published on this site; not re-verified)). Comparing Local and Offshore Platforms Today
Tax should not be the reason to choose an offshore site. The real differences between locally licensed sportsbooks and offshore cryptocurrency platforms are licensing and consumer protection, KYC, and payment options. Licensed operators carry out identity (KYC) checks under anti-money-laundering rules. Before a large withdrawal you will usually need your account name to match your MoMo wallet and your Ghana Card (National ID).
Avoiding Predatory Unlicensed Operators
